Terms

Terms

The plain-language terms for using Kitedex. It is a free, non-commercial project provided as is, so there is no sales contract or service-level agreement here, just the practical ground rules.

What Kitedex is

Kitedex is an open catalog of kite and control-bar specifications, plus tools built on that data like compare, similar kites, and kite-bar fit.

Using the site

Browse, search, compare, and cite the catalog freely. Automated scraping or crawling of the site is not allowed, and neither is bypassing sign-in or rate limits or otherwise degrading it for others. For bulk data, contact us at support@kitedex.com.

Accounts

Signing in is optional and only needed to submit reports or votes. You are responsible for keeping access to the email address you sign in with, since that is the only credential the account has. We can suspend an account that is used to submit spam, false reports, or abusive content.

Content you submit

When you submit a report, a missing-entry suggestion, or a compatibility vote, you are telling us it is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to submit it. By submitting it, you give Kitedex permission to use, edit, and publish that information as part of the catalog, for example by folding a correction into a spec row, or showing a vote tally on the kite-bar fit page.

Catalog data license

The compiled catalog dataset (the specification rows and structure) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0). You can copy, adapt, and reuse it, including commercially, as long as you credit Kitedex. Full terms: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0. This covers the catalog data only. The Kitedex source code is not offered under an open-source license.

Product images and other third-party content

Product images shown on Kitedex are copyright their respective manufacturers and brands. They are shown for identification and reference only, the same way a retailer displays manufacturer product photography, and they are not covered by the CC-BY-4.0 license above. If you are a rights holder and want an image or entry removed, use the Report an issue button on the relevant product page, or email removals@kitedex.com for a formal notice. We review and act on these requests directly.

No warranty

Kite and bar specifications are sourced from manufacturer pages and community reports, and may contain errors, be outdated, or be superseded by the manufacturer's own current documentation. Kitedex is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Do not treat it as the sole source for a safety-critical decision, check with the manufacturer for anything that matters that much.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. Continuing to use Kitedex after an update means you accept the current version.
